We’ve had customers ask us lately if we will be releasing an app. Apps seem like they will be convenient, easy. But we may be the first people to say, “There’s not an app for that.” We considered an app, but then we looked at how it would help or supplement Rosy. And the answer? Since the system is fully responsive and built so well, it would not add anything except a few downsides—mobile apps take up space on your phone, and they require constant updates to get rid of bugs and keep up with new phone releases. There isn’t an app, because Rosy is already a mobile web app that you can update from any device. Read more about our responsive design and decision not to have an app.
Here’s a little slice of tech magic you may not have known: You can create a shortcut on your phone’s home screen that links directly to our website. And we’re going to show you how.
For the iPhone (Using Safari):
Note: This also works on iPod Touch and iPad.
Step1: Open Safari and go to rosysalonsoftware.com
Looks nice, doesn’t it?
Step 2: Click on the “Menu” icon which looks like four horizontal lines. From there, choose “Login” which takes you to the Rosy login page.
Step 3: On the Rosy login page, tap the share icon in Safari.
It’s at the bottom of the screen. It looks like a square with an arrow breaking through the roof.
Step 4: Click the “Add to Home Screen” button
Step 5: Name your shortcut whatever you want. We call ours Rosy Mobile. Short and sweet.
Step 6: Test it out!
Pretty cool, right? Looks just like an app.
For Android (Using Chrome): Note: This also works for an Android tablet
Step 1: Once you’ve opened up the Rosy website on Chrome, click the menu button. The menu button can look different for every phone but it is typically a button with three lines or dots like this:
Step 2: On the drop down menu, choose add to home screen and name the shortcut
Step 3: Test out your new link! Chrome doesn’t automatically pull an image from the website like Safari does, so your new “app” will have a letter as the image, most likely “R” for Rosy.
Bonus tip
You can make a shortcut for the Rosy log in page, for this glorious blog, or any page you want. Enjoy the timesaver!
Is there anyway to have the log in acct.# and user name saved so I don’t have to type them in every time I log in?
Thanks,
Marilyn
