Kaylia Lundgren of Mountainland Technical College won the Rosy Rewards scholarship grand prize for the third quarter of 2020. Currently, she is working at two salons in Provo, Utah all while attending Brigham Young University studying entrepreneurial management. Kaylia is also in the works of franchising a salon. Needless to say, she’s been busy since leaving beauty school and is on track for her professional journey in the salon industry.
What has been your greatest accomplishment or realization since beauty school?
KL: It would be noticing the difference in confidence in myself that has grown over time. The way I carry myself has changed and I now know what I’m worth.
What are you looking forward to in the future?
KL: Graduating college and getting my master’s degree, as well as hopefully have a couple of salons open up by then.
How did your scholarship win/funds make a difference while you were in school and after?
KL: This made a HUGE difference because I was going to Brigham Young University full time and hair school full time for the last bit of hair school and didn’t have time to work! This money saved me.
Do you have any words of advice for future professionals looking to succeed in this industry?
KL: Always believe in yourself, have confidence, and know that although school may be tough now, it’s worth it in the end.
